two last minute entries

the Prius

I needed to take the Prius in for $75K service and decided to bring up - one more time - the braking issue I have had with this car since i got it in 2004. (I heard a radio report last night on the 2010 Prius issues - and it sounded remarkably like the problem I have for the last six years. It proved to be a frustrating experience. If there is no response from Toyota in two weeks, I'll be contacting the NTSB.

graphic design work

Another season of Tuning the Air is on the horizon - and that means a new poster design...

It always seems important to include some out-of-this-world ideas, and these are what I came up with.

In working on these I found the logo a huge constraint. It needs to be large enough to read the letters from a distance. The result is that it takes up a good deal of real estate on the poster.

duck calligraphy

by the time i reach Green Lake, whatever sunrise there might have been is now past. i wait and look out over the water.

after quite awhile, a duck crosses my view leaving a chevron trail behind him

then he tips his beak in the water and follows it with his whole body. flip! he's gone.

the motion of his disappearance sets off waves of concentric circles.

and he leaves a calligrapher's signature in the water.

December 27th - studio

I accidentally wasted my sliver of afternoon sunlight by having the wrong camera setting. (at last night's gig i set the quality to a lower standard for still images in order to have room on the CF card for the videos. despite this - and for the first time ever - i got an error that the card was full in the middle of the trio's set.) the result is that the raw files - the files that would be used to produce prints on the Behemoth are about a third of the size necessary for today's images. they can be enjoyed online, but nowhere else. ah well.
